Description
This course is a unique opportunity to understand the
world of bespoke tailoring and start practising some skills. A
tailoring apprentice can take 7 years to perfect their craft, so perhaps
you want to have a taste before you commit, or just understand more
about this complex and secret industry?
The course will
start with a week exploring the bespoke tailoring industry including
visits to Savile Row and specialized fabric stores. The second and third
week will be about making an individually fitted jacket and you will be
taken through step-by-step from pattern to finished garment. The course
will be taught by expert tutors from our degree programmes.

- Examples of Tailoring – Traditional and Contemporary
- Hand sewing techniques
- Pressing - Equipment and Techniques
- Tailoring fabrics and Interlinings
- Anatomy of a jacket – construction and deconstruction
- Tailoring Vocabulary – Pockets, Collars and Sleeves
- Finishing – Buttons/Buttonholes/Linings
- Visit to Savile Row workshop
- Technology in tailoring
